WHAT WE LEARNED

On-Job Training Experience at Vas Spectrometers

During our On-Job Training (OJT) at Vas Spectrum, we gained in-depth practical knowledge of dynamic website development using WordPress. This training focused on both technical and professional skills, helping us understand real-world industry practices.

🔹 WordPress Basics

Installing WordPress

We learned the complete process of installing WordPress on a hosting server using control panels such as cPanel. This included database creation, configuration setup, and understanding file structures required for a functional website.

Understanding the Dashboard

We were introduced to the WordPress dashboard, which acts as the control center of the website. We learned how to manage settings, users, themes, plugins, posts, pages, and site appearance efficiently.

Posts and Pages

We understood the difference between posts and pages, their use cases, and how they contribute to website structure. Posts were used for dynamic content like blogs, while pages were used for static content such as About Us, Services, and Contact pages.

Themes and Plugins

We explored how themes control the visual appearance of a website and how plugins extend functionality. We learned to install, activate, configure, and update themes and plugins according to project requirements.

🔹 Website Design

Customizing Themes

We customized themes by changing layouts, colors, fonts, headers, footers, and other design elements to create visually appealing and user-friendly websites.

Using Elementor

We used Elementor, a popular page builder, to design responsive web pages without coding. We learned to use drag-and-drop elements such as text, buttons, images, columns, and sections for professional layouts.

Creating Menus

We learned how to create and manage navigation menus, link pages correctly, and organize menu structures to improve website usability.

Adding Images and Sliders

We gained hands-on experience in adding images, image galleries, and sliders to enhance website appearance while maintaining proper alignment and responsiveness.

🔹 Hosting & Domain

How Hosting Works

We learned the basics of web hosting, including server types, storage, bandwidth, and how websites are hosted on servers to be accessible online.

Domain Linking

We understood how domains work and how to link a domain name with hosting by configuring DNS settings, ensuring proper website accessibility.

Publishing Website Live

We learned how to publish a website live, test it after deployment, fix minor issues, and ensure that it works correctly across devices and browsers.
